As we approach another stewardship season, I’m reminded of the great things the people of Messiah accomplish — feeding our neighbors, teaching English, supporting refugees, providing emergency funding for people in crisis, and on and on. Soon, we’ll be restarting the important ministry of the “Third Thursday” program which provides funding to organizations doing important work in our own back yard.
As you know, Messiah is completely self-supporting. Our staff, buildings and programs are dependent on your financial support. Stewardship is our annual effort to encourage you to be stewards of the Church of the Messiah – to commit your time and financial resources to the care of this place we love.
I would say that how much you give is less important than committing to yourself and to Messiah to pledge a set amount for the year. You can pay that pledge in any way that works for you . . . weekly, monthly, quarterly, or all at once, but it’s so important that you let us know what you plan to give.
Only you can know how much to give. And remember, a pledge is simply an intention. We all know that things come up in life that can change our personal financial situations. We certainly understand if your situation changes and you find yourself unable to fulfill your entire pledge.
Over the next few weeks, parishioners will be receiving their pledge packets in the mail and via email. If you have questions in the meantime or would like to make your pledge on the phone, please don’t hesitate to reach out to the parish office, 845 876-3533.
Yours in faith,
